TiLT Things

With the addition of a new campus at the Eastern Institute of Technology, and a growth in blended and online courses, the TilT Team has had to reconsider how we provide staff development. Based on the popular 23 Things, we’ve designed a much expanded framework consisting of individual units, “things”, which staff can choose to pursue individually or facilitated by us in face-to-face sessions or online facilitated courses.

We’ve used the following criteria:

  • Each “thing” needs to incorporate the ‘why’ as well as the ‘how’ of the technology or tool
  • Each “thing” needs to be easily shared
  • Each “thing” needs to be easily found
  • Each “thing” should contain a Discovery Exercise to get a teacher started
  • It is necessary to be able to combine clusters of things, to provide facilitated offerings
  • The framework needs to be flexible, to allow us to alter offerings to meet demand
  • The framework needs to be searchable
  • The framework needs to be sustainable
  • The framework needs to build on existing work done at EIT
  • The framework needs to align with EIT policies, systems and practices affecting blended and online learning

Cluster 1 – Moodle: Getting started with Moodle (indicated for all staff teaching at eLearning Level 2)
